NIMHCalibur - Elizabeth Brisby

"Elizabeth looked up, puzzled by the sight in front of her; a golden beacon of light that could be seen miles away radiated from where the Fitzgibbon's old farm once stood, set ablaze by some unknown arsonist. The heat was intense, burning into her flesh like hot needles despite being distanced from the actual home by a few yards. What puzzled her even more, was the fact that not only had the home caught ablaze somehow, but the old rosebush outside the home was set alight as well, the fires bellowing within it's secret depths surely hot as a star. How this happened was beyond her, as the bush was separate from the house as well. She called out into the flames and embers, trying to find a trace of any resident being trapped, but by the time she arrived she had already known that the old rat's colony had been long abandoned, and that the suffocating flames and smoke surely claimed the life of anything inside. 

"The fragment of the stone's power in her soul called to her, alerting her that there was a danger nearby, but not immediately threatening attack. Surely, whoever it was she sensed was likely the culprit of this siege, but also could be a individual with answers to the unfolding chaos Justin had written her about. As a newly elected sage of Thorn Valley, Elizabeth weighed her options and consulted the power of the stone for the next best step..."

Time for an explination: Long ago, I once tried developing a fanfiction story arc based on The Secret of NIMH, but incorporating Soul Calibur elements into the story to add an extra dash of epic to the ensuing saga. I'm going to try and pick that up again, and get all characters designed, but I'm also making some changes. To combat unoriginality and any type of copyright infringement/fan rage I'm going to distance myself away from the Soul Calibur aspect of the story, and stick to a more original epic quest that's still sure to please!
